What we do...
Our team provides linkages to volunteering opportunities in the Bunbury and wider communities by providing a referral service to local community organisations. We have volunteering opportunities working with plants and animals, older people, young people, maintainance and the outdoors to name a few, and we can match your interest area to a local agency. Please take a look in our volunteer positions section of this site for further volunteering opportunities.
Volunteer South West also offers training opportunities for volunteers and managers of volunteers through our 'Community Development and Leadership Program'. This program offers FREE training to volunteers and managers or coordinators of volunteers and to date has offered professional training in St. John's First Aid certificate, Food Handling certificate, governance training, risk management, funding and submissions, and volunteer management. Further training this year is planned in 'marketing your commmunity organisation', 'event management made easy' and 'the project managers toolbox'. If you would like to be added to an email list of training opportunities through VSW or would like further information please contact Bec Parker. This program is supported by Lotterywest.
We also offer a new training program 'Enhancing Access' for people with disability to enable them to become local volunteers. The program is a half day per week, run over 6 weeks, with a new program beginning mid August. This successful and innovative program provides the opportunity to 'taste test' local volunteering positions and organisations, in a safe and social environment. For further information please contact Juliet Harrop at Volunteer South West.
Volunteer South West also offer volunteering opportunites through the School Volunteer Program. This program has been designed to support students through mentoring and role modelling on a one on one basis within the school system. The skills required for this mentoring role include patience, empathy and life experiences, and of course humour will also help you in your role! it is essential all volunteer mentors have a Working With Children Clearance for this role, and VSW can help you gain your clearance and also provide more information regarding the program. Please give us a call!
Volunteer South West also work closely with the Club Doctors to help volunteers in their roles within non-for-profit organisations. The Club Doctors service includes advice on effective committees, growth programs, conflict resolution, assistance with financial matters, volunteer recruitment and fundraising. This service is available to office bearers of non for profit organisations by simply calling the Club Doctors hotline on 0488 914 611 during business hours.
